Fuck the politics let’s go straight to arguing about the name…
No boring names like ‘trade union and socialist coalition’ or ‘international working class association’ for fuck sake….something with a bit of zap and zing……….like THE RED FRONT…….it didn’t make much headway last time….
‘Its main component was the Revolutionary Communist Party of Frank Furedi, while it also attracted the support of the tiny Revolutionary Democratic Group, Red Action and a few independents. The RCP were hugely optimistic about its potential and spoke of it in time replacing the Labour Party as the main left wing force in British politics. However, its candidates shared only 3,177 votes in total and as a result was abandoned shortly after the election’
….but that was clearly the fault of the RCP for not dressing smarter. It was also the name adopted by proletarian communists who fought the Nazis in the 1920s so will appeal to those squaddists still pining for Red Action…….who supported the RED FRONT in 1987. Riding a wave of nostalgia we will probably get REAL OLD LABOUR or somesuch….how about the NYE WOULD BE TURNING IN HIS GRAVE PARTY?
Sorted.RED FRONT IT IS. Now about that political programme….
‘Red Front’ what a load of revisionist bollocks. ‘Party of Labour of Albania’ leads the way. All cadres must follow shining path of worker’s vanguard. To quote from the Wikipedia entry.”The ideology of the PPSh was Anti-Revisionist Marxism-Leninism. The party organisation was built up following democratic centralist principles, with Enver Hoxha as its First Secretary. Article 3 of Albania’s 1976 Constitution identified the Party as the “leading political force of the state and of the society.” To help carry out its ideological activities it had an associated mass organization known as the Democratic Front. Its daily publication was Zëri i Popullit (Voice of the People) and its monthly theoretical journal was Rruga e Partisë (Road of the Party).”
But Dora, that sounds like the SWP!
The Red Front has a blatently obvious rhyming conotations evolving from the popular cockney shop front. Dora’s objection is political mine is linguistic. Drop it Ian fer fuck’s sake.
By ‘popular cocker-ney shop front’ do you mean the ‘Firebox Cafe’? That’s it! How about the Firebox Front!? Fairtrade pancetta butties for all!
The Red Tide?
I think “Red Font” might be a better name – it would demonstrate that all the Trots have become born-again Trots.
Just call it what it is; The Oxbridge Debating Society
How about DEN FRONTEN RODA then?!..
How about the “Fronte D’Loach”?
Proletarian Democracy already has this covered comrades.
