‘Of all the bars in all the world’……………I’ve always fancied sitting in one in Rabaul in New Britain in New Guinea in the 1930s in a dirty linen suit with a huge fan whirring round admiring the volcano and the Simpson harbour. Now however I’ve switched to a bar in Mexico City in the 1930s – since I discovered Eisenstein was there to make a film about the Mexican revolution. In the making of Battleship Potemkin Eisenstein  had persuaded Stalin to lend him the Black Sea fleet for the day ( YOU GOTTA ASK AINT YA!) and he’d just persuadedthe Mexican government to lend him 500 soldiers, 10,00 guns and 50 canon to shoot ‘iQue Viva Mexico!’ At this point Upton Sinclair who was bankrolling the film pulled the plug on it as Esenstein threatened a financial disaster. So I’d be in this bar and in would come Eisenstein, B.Traven( for it is he) Diego Rivera, Victor Serge, Leon Trotsky, Frida Kahlo,Buenventura Durrutti, Leon trotsky, Ernest Hemingway…….’oi your round Bonehead’.

In Rabaul it’d just be me and Errol……..Flynn that is. Still….who’d wanadrink with Leon – whata fuckingbore – droning on about Bonapartism and the Transitional programme. Mines a Pimms Errol!

First time as tragedy………the SWP is reviving the dismal RIGHT TO WORK campaign of the early 1980s with a united front ( some hopes!) Campaign launch and conference on January 30th. Expect yellow tabards, collecting buckets, petitions, blistered feet, Jarrow style marches, phony rhetoric, the nobiity of labour……….a campaign that’s wrong on just about every founding premise – starting with the useless concept of ‘rights’ and continuing with the supposed demands of the workingclass for wage slavery. As ClassWar put  it in 1983 – ‘WE WANT THE RIOT TO WORK’ – echoing that slogan of Brixton anarchists in 1981. What will be next out of the SWP box of old clothes………..’Bring back the groundnut  scheme’ (check it out)! Rubbish…….utter fucking rubbish!

I see my seminal work ‘ANARCHIST!’  is now available on Amazon for£45!!!!!!! Quite right to – as there were only 1,000 printed (and boxloads were lost after a particularly drunken anarchist bookfair) this must be a good investment for the future – far better return than sterling or gold. I’m told there are a few copies left at £3 at Housmans and Freddom – join the goldrush!

I’m also reliably informed there’s a stall at Camden market flogging the ‘NEW HOMES FOR THE RICH’ t-shirts for £15! Time to collect the royalties methinks. For the trainspotters amongst us this cover was used on 2 issues of Class War – this is no.22 the second one. The more desirable first one is distinguished by the still blood dripping circled As on the logo. Just thought you’d like to check yours for Cash in the Attic!

I don’t know who’s calling this but here’s the details:

Therefore, it’s time to show that the only true solution is REVOLUTION. Come to the liberal demonstration on December 5^th and show the powers that be OUR solution, the only true solution to environmental chaos!’

There’s also a rally in Hyde Park at 1pm with the usual dross of MPs speaking – might be  an idea to give them some grief before going off to hold hands round parliament.
