On 17 May 1649, three soldiers were executed on Oliver Cromwell’s orders in Burford churchyard, Oxfordshire. They belonged to a movement popularly known as the Levellers, with beliefs in civil rights and religious tolerance. During the Civil War, they fought on Parliament’s side, had at first seen Cromwell as a liberator, but now saw him as a dictator. They were prepared to fight against him for their ideals and he was determined to crush them. Over 300 of them were captured by Cromwell’s troops and locked up in Burford church.

Three were led out into the churchyard to be shot as ringleaders.

That’s the historic background - Levellers Day in Burford every year commemorates THOMPSON, PERKINS and CHURCH the three executed Levellers. The march through Burford gets right up the noses of the local gentry and is a glorious mix of WOODCRAFT FOLK, MORRIS DANCERS, SEALED KNOT,CLASS WARRIORS, OLD STYLE LEFTIES and TRADE UNIONISTS from Ruskin College. they’l be a good turn out of Class Warriors tomorrow - May 17th - plus the EVEr brilliant and committed ROBB JOHNSON to get you’s going. Anarchists rarely pay attention to by-elections becuse their heads are always involved with anarcho-things like G8s and Winter  Moots but the current Crewe by-election is very interesting indeed. First of all the Labour candidate is against the hereditary principle except in her own case  -inheriting seat from her mother and her grandfather’s Labour aristocracy lineage. So thats out the way.

The Tory is a toff and Labour hypocrites have been playing the ‘class war card’ according to all the press. But regardless of Labour its true……..Edward Timpson is a fucking toff - HE’S EVEN GOT THAT CLASSIC TORY INBRED LOOK. He lives in a mansion with Llamas in the paddock, he’s the multi-millionaire heir to the Timpson shoe shop fortune, he went to Uppingham public school, he’s the mirror class clone of Cameron and Osbourne. Last week my man in Alsager tells me the Tories have been canvassing council estates in their £50,000 Bentleys!  And not a rock thrown at the fuckers! See how arrogantly confident they’ve become after Johnson’s election victory - the old inbreds sliming back out of the ancestral oozepits like the Jabberwocky. Don’t kick the Tories Out - kick the Tories In. 

Personally I think there a good case to be made for standing in by-elections to run virulently and lively hustings of the old fasshioned naked class war kind with a lot of fun and rumpus. Any takers?
