It seems that Stephen Hester’s bowing to public and political pressure to refuse his bonus was not enough to satisfy those who believe that anything less than burning bankers on a pyre is too good for them.

Hester’s country home of Broughton Grange, Oxfordshire is due to be opened up to the public to raise money for charity, and in his blog, the founder of the newspaper ‘Class War’, Ian Hope, calls on his followers to “BRING THE CLASS WAR TO THE RICH APRIL 29th.”

Stephen Hester may retreat to his garden but what will happen on open day?

One way Stephen Hester might wish to console himself over his decision to waive his bonusis to take a stroll around his country estate.

Broughton Grange, which is set in 350 acres of Oxfordshire parkland, boasts “one of the most significant private contemporary gardens in Britain”, according to its website. It offers many opportunities for contemplation and reflection. For example, the walled garden, which was laid out in 2000 by Tom Stuart-Smith, contains beech tunnels, topiary yews and pleached lime squares.

But the tranquillity might well be interrupted on 29 April when the garden is opened to the public to raise money for charity. Ian Bone, a campaigner who founded the Class War newspaper in the 1980s, has called on his blog for people to use the open day as an excuse to gather at Hester’s “country pile” for “fun and games”, adding that “our French comrades will be visiting his ski lodge at Verbier on the same day”.

Can someone – Dave, warren, paul? – knock up an amended version of the Hester hunting class war poster with HUNT THE RICH aong bottom off photo instead of the scumbag bit and another version with OCCUPY HESTER APRIL 29th along bottom. Ta.

The rich are on the backfoot. Contrary to their own self promotion they don’t like it up ‘em. You have to make it personal to get to these fuckers. It’s no good droning on about capitalism in the abstract – they couldn’t give a toss about that. Make it personal though and they turn into the runny bottom brigade. …as in the case of Stephen Hester. Sir Fred became Sir Fled after a couple of broken windows in his mansion……couple of broken windows at RBS wouldn’t have bothered him. Some ant-capitalist protestor said ‘ It’s not about stephen hester ….NO IT FUCKING WELL IS ABOUT HESTER. This time IT IS personal. There will be more bonuses coming up – we must keep the heat on a few of them over the next weeks. ‘Rich’ is becoming the word of abuse it always should have been. ‘Rich’ will soon be lapping at the doors of Cameron and his Etonian cronies.
