I’ve been stressing the importance of these accusations for some time. Now a third man has come forward to police claiming he was assaulted by Evans two years ago. Yesterday police searched Evans’ office in the Commons. it is quite possible that the police may have to do a DNA search of the Speaker’s apartment since Evans often entertained there.
It would have been quite possible that if Evans and his (rapidly dwindling) supporters had their way today’s gay marriage debate would have been presided over by a deputy speaker facing accusations of male rape.

Long awaited news of the annual CROMER CONFERENCE is revealed in the latest CUNNINGHAM AMENDMENT which publishes the date, venue and conference arrangements only AFTER the great event has happened. This has never irked me before – putting it down to a charming peccadillo of Dr.Good – but this year it revealed that I have missed a performance not only of Jerry Spangles and daughters on the xylophones but of ‘Tiny’Hetherington on the spoons. This really is too much. If it were not for the continued excellence of his organ I should be having words with the good doctor at my winter retreat at Wells Next the Sea.

I’m impressed with hammer-headed Manchester Anti-Capitalist site: Membership/fortnightly meetings – sense of energy, urgency, purposefulness, determination….lets get a move on it’s bad out there.

We need a group like this in every town and maybe the Teeside initiative will help but….more to the point – we need an organisation of this kind which can act nationally. The woolly headed muddle of the past – federations, incoherent politics, inability to act decisively, tailending trot demos,like flotsam and jetsam buffeted here and there but without purpose….

Bob Crow in today’s Guardian. Anti-Europeanism is the last refuge of a scoundrel – ask Farage. I simply do not share the anti-Europeanism of the Left. Will we, as Comrade Crow suggests, be better off when our elected governments regain democratic control? Of course not. By appealing to the little Englander/Daily Mail/Blimps and suggesting all blame is laid at Brussels Crow sings from the same songsheet as UKIP. The Radical Independence Movement in Scotland seem to be gaining real support whereas in England neither lefts nor anarchists can come up with any strategy for change apart from same old same old. So could independence work in England. Suppose Scotland votes for independence then deprived of its Scots MPS its unlikely Labour will ever gain a majority again in England. So faced with the prospect of endless rule by a Tory/UKIP coalition what should people in our big Labour voting towns and cities do. Remembering the PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF SOUTH YORKSHIRE then should we not declare radical independence for Liverpool/Manchester/Tyneside and Teeside/Yorkshire……….maybe even inner London? And not just declare but get ready for dual power well before election night when the barricades go up.
