KINNOCK SELECTION – WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ALL WOMEN SHORTLIST

Stephen Kinnock’s selection for Aberafan looks dodgier by the minute. The seat was scheduled by the Labour NEC to have an all woman shortlist but when Kinnock expressed an interest it was quietly shelved. And those remembering the fuss over trade union meddling in Falkirk might question how every single one of steelworkers union COMMUNITY at Port Talbot all decided to vote for Kinnock handing him a one vote 106-105 victory:

‘Stephen Kinnock has received a boost to his campaign to become Labour’s candidate for the safe seat of Aberavon by securing the backing of Port Talbot steelworkers’ union Community.

The decision was made earlier this week at a meeting of Community’s Port Talbot Joint Branches Committee, which brings together elected representatives from all of the union’s branches at Tata Steel’s Port Talbot works. The representatives were unanimous in their decision to endorse Mr Kinnock’s campaign.’
