OH DEAR – MASSIVE ATTACK TO HEADLINE PONCEY BLACKHEATH FOOD FESTIVAL

A SORT OF OPPOSITE OF ROCK AGANIST THE RICH – ROCK FOR THE RICH

‘A new London “food and music” festival where the headline acts will include Michelin-starred chefs and dance group Massive Attack is to launch this September.

Blackheath Common will host the two-day event, OnBlackheath, which will feature pop-up food stands, culinary stage demonstrations and samples.

Chef Gizzi Erskine will head the “chefs’ club”, which will see restaurateurs Simon Hulstone, Richard Bainbridge and The Smokehouse’s Neil Rankin showcase their cooking skills.’

And this is a surprise how? Their last ‘gig’ was some poncey middle class thing with tickets for a 100 quid.

Looks like it’ll be a great flocking together of Hipsters and Nouveau Riche techies, swapping notes on cheese varieties and ‘up and coming property opportunities’, all accompanied by the suitably cool urban tunes of MA as an aural backdrop. It’s a sad fact that throughout history artists of all stripes have become tarts for the wealthy….Let’s hope the established local communities of New Cross, Lewisham and Peckham spot the opportunity for a free jolly day out and completely swamp the wank-fest…

Unfortunately life has become extremely convoluted these days… Apathetic – yes. Hipster/Nouveau Riche – most definitely not! (I wish ;-)) Mildly excited about the fact that one of my most favourite bands ever is playing on my doorstep and that I can almost roll home to my home ‘on the wrong side’ of the Hither Green tracks. Was contemplating the old Glasto fence storming days for this one but have gone all middle aged and purchased.

I dont know what it is with them -they play at Westonbirt Arboretum for posh people as well. Yet were so ‘streeeeet’ and political back in the Wildbunch, Dugout days. Theyre more of a hip hop Jacques Loussier trio for the make your own pesto set now.

They backed Wellington School educated, son of a home counties major George Ferguson for Bristol mayor. Nuff said.

A fenced off foodie fest on what’s supposed to be ‘common land’ in ever such close proximity to communities in Deptford, Peckham and the like that are getting screwed over by ongoing austerity – well if that’s not a provocation, I don’t know what the f*** is!

Why isn’t this being advertised in local foodbanks?

  7. ‘Massive TWAT Attack!’

  8. I am fairly shocked at the bitterness of what can only be a huge plus for the local areas. I accept varying political viewpoints. That’s a basic human right, but why feel the need to pass such prejudiced, incensed judgement at an event that will clearly tick a lot of boxes for a lot of decent people? if its not for you, bypass it, perhaps even wish it well but most definitely, better spend your time with more positive pursuit.

      Click bait alert!!

Andrea is a marketing whore. Her links go to her poxy event pr company web site. She is probably ‘monetizing’ (sic) your page views and certainly isn’t interested in publishing anything you have to say.

I wish I hadn’t boosted her trade by clicking her link and hoping to discourage anyone else from following my piss poor example here are some quotes:

“who wouldn’t want to swap an evening of losing yourself to great music in the open air, feeling that trouble free and being part of positive change with a huge vacant public common with nothing on it!?”

“We don’t want a repeat of the failing business profit margins from the 2012 Olympics where Greenwich businesses were preparing for a footfall and got the opposite.”

“I believe, as do countless others, that this festival is an important event for our district and the country and the best thing to happen in Blackheath since forever”
