Well here’s an unlikely working class hero – ALFIE PRICE worked as a lifeguard near Ilfracombe in 1886. The arrogant future Kaiser called Alfie a ‘peasant’ after he asked him to stop throwing stones at bathers. Confident of his entourage the Kaiser squared up to the 16 year old who floored him with one punch. Exhibition now on at Ilfracombe museum. TOP LAD.
