DOES ANARCHO- PUNK GET YOU OFF THE STREETS OR ON THE STREETS?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Can only think of the CONFLICT Brixton gig that turned into a street riot. Happy to hear of any others.

What lessons for RAR gigs in October……….can we play more dangerous places………on the back of lorries, squat roofs, in the streets…………

Not technically Anarcho-Punk but Rage Against the Machine have put out a video of their Zapatista support gig in Mexico City in which their fans outside the gig riot.

OAP day centres…? I reckon the Fens would also be a good place they only ever see UKIP types lording it over them

  4. gathering of the 5000 Conflict gig at Brixton that turned into mini riot (or could have done), I got arrested having a go at the police, ended up getting remanded. Broke my heart to see the other 4990 (Hardcore Punks, Ha) run away.

I also remember Brixton, my first ever gig as a fresh faced 16 year old, and consequently ended up as my first ever riot aswell!!! Happy daze!! Seem to remember the Mets finest used it for some sort of riot control exercise, ie, closing the local railway stations and all access to side streets, and this was while the gig was still on!!! As I say, happy daze and a good forerunner to the glorious battle of Trafalgar 3 years later…Happy Happy Happy…Joy Joy Joy. Mind you most Conflict gigs back in the day ended up in some sort of riot, Edinburgh 87/88 when the polis came crashing through the doors in the middle of Oi Pollois set and just before Conflict were coming on, venue wrecked and quite a few casualties on both sides, inside and outside the venue. I think maybe more to do with Police tactics back in the day rather than everybody hell bent on having a riot………..fun though it was;-)

  7. http://killyourpetpuppy.co.uk/news/the-published-books-of-martin-and-daniel-lux/ hope this link works its Martin Lux account of the conway hall Crass gig which kicked off big style with the fash, an important part of antifascist history and the cowardice of the anarchopunk scenesters back in the day. I have loathed steve ignorant/ crass from this day on, middle class theorists happy to let nazis run riot in teir own back yard, while leaving it up to others to sort out the mess, then attacking them as red fascists..bizarre
