The CCL seems to exist in limbo from the rest of football. Home grounds are impossible to find hidden on industrial estates miles from the places they represent…………Raynes Park, South Kilburn, Wembley………..in the first division half of the clubs out of 16 seem to play at Chessington and Hook’s Chalky Lane ground – another Brigadoon nightmare to find. Croydon Athletic are currently playing all their games away from home. Attendances are pitiful or non existent.
Last Saturday a mass brawl erupted after two players were sent off in the Staines Lammas v Chessington game. A substitute then armed himself with a pitchfork and a 22 man brawl broke out leading to the ref abandoning the game after 27 minutes. The replay date has yet to be fixed. Book your seats now – kit wont be hard.
