in praise of THE ROCKING BERRIES

The Rocking Berries line up originally included Christine Perfect on piano and subsequently of Fleetwood Mac. Later they descended into Barron Knights/Black Abbotts comedy impressionists of excruciating awfulness. Which is a shame. Their big hit was ‘He’s in Town’ in 1964. Here they are on the Warner Holidays cabaret circuit in 2011 singing the same song. Singer Geoff Turton who must be about 70 gives a brilliant vocal performance – falsetto and all – and with his eyes closed gives it full whack where he might have gone through the motions. The tubby comedy impressionist alongside with tambourine looks suitably in awe at the end. As a comment underneath says ‘ the vocalist is a class act’. So this one’s for all them old bands giving it their all on the holiday camp circuit – but especially for you Geoff Turton.
