This is by no means an anarchist event btw, Autonomy&Solidarity – the Goldsmiths anarchists – are a part of it but subject to democratic proccess like everyone else. We’re just quick with our flags and banners when we see an opportunity;)
Occupation still going on, come down tonight at 9 to chat up arts students and argue with Student Grant types. BYOB, finishes when we like as we’re sleeping in the building.
antigerman is right but lets not go too far please – this is a mixed group and A&S is a significant faction adhering to democracy like everyone else, including the SWP. I might have serious distaste for some of their opinions, but they are not pushing them in this ocupation. I’m sure they’d say the same about me. To kick off over opinions they aren’t actually bringing to the occupation is pointless; if they try and push a bad line, we will vote them down – but like most SWP students, they try and go for a palatable liberal line in public.
for what its worth, they are nice enough and we re getting along well. Shame about the politics, but again I’m sure they’d say the same about me.

I would guess it refers to some degree of sympathy with ‘anti-Deutsch’ politics rather than a general dislike of German people.

I am glad that A&S have played a major role in the occupation, and my spies in New Cross tell me that the presence of A&S at Goldsmiths has changed the tenor of student politics, after years dominated by the Respect/SWP/Islamophile axis.
My ‘name’ is something I’m saddled with since I created my wordpress account, when I was a bit more ignorant of how it worked. The original aim of my blog was to translate some of the politics of the ‘anti-Deutsch’ current in German politics into a UK context: a critique of the idiocies of trad left “anti-imperialism”, a critique of the conspiracy theories and antisemitism implicit in the “anti-globalization” movement, a return to the essential proletarian internationalism of the communist tradition. I have nothing against Germans. I lived there for a while, which is where I met the anti-Deutsch.
