WEYMAN BENNETT ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT VIOLENT DISORDER!

In Bolton on the UAF anti-EDL demo this afternoon. Conspracy laws fell into discredit in the 80s when a series of conspiracy to riot  trials collapsed but before that the judges ruled in conspiracy ‘ a nod’s as good as a wink’ and were notoriously difficult to defend. I’ll be amazed if this charge ever goes to trial.

  1. Of course no charges will come it was done to intimidate those with good reason to object to racist fascist scum that is The EDL and I know can not be proven but also a propaganda victory for the far right have a look at there forums (just been there) while I dislike The UAF along with leaders we do for one moment celebrate this fact, we need to ask what was the motives for such actions of the state and the serious repercussions for future actions it is on the street we are going to have to confront the rise of the far right and more so coming the election, the defeat of the far right has been clear from the election of D Beckon to the present it is an organised militant anti fascist force one that we need be kick the likes of The EDL racist fascist scum back to the sewers they come from.

    It will never come from the likes of The UAF and there fucking pandering to the state, it is as we know the state that is the problem and I can but hope those involved with The UAF now understand the nature of The Class War and what will be needed to smash the rise of fascism and racism..

    The trots, at least the SWP, will never stop campaigning for tighter controls on public assembly for right-wing groups, and they will always be the first victims of the counter-protest policies they’ve lobbied for.

    Is it too much to hope they might learn? Probably. People who regard a police run, welfare state as the highest form of social organisation are not likely to change their approach to state control of other (anti) social movements.

    Dealing with EDL will require a more sophisticated approach than chanting ‘nazi scum, off our streets’ and hoping that the police will play by the rules agreed between George Galloway and the Central Committee of the SWP.

    Incidentally, the conspiracy charge may be a temporary expedient to ensure the police get the bail conditions they’re after. It’s a standard tactic. Bennett will probably end up facing lesser charges, but his arrest was clearly planned, and I suspect he may be dragged before a court at some point on public order charges. None of this happened spontaneously, and somebody in forward intelligence collected evidence before the arrest.

    It’s interesting to speculate why this has happened to a senior SWP arse at this late stage. I suspect it’s because the UAF are rapidly becoming an embarrassment to the TUC and Labour Party in the run up to an election. Bennett may well have overplayed his hand in assuming that UAF’s connection to the Labour government would ensure protection from serious charges. I think the message of his arrest is ‘back away from any set piece confrontations with the EDL before the general election, or face legal sanctions.’

    In addition, Searchlight pulled the plug on the UAF a few months ago, which means they’ve lost any friends they once had in MI5/MI6. It’s Searchlight that determines who is a ‘respectable’ anti-fascist and who isn’t. And the UAF has been found wanting. The clock was ticking for Bennett and SWP CC from the moment Searchlight gave the thumbs down.

    I could be totally wrong, but I suspect that if he walks away without charges it will mean a distinct change in UAF policy, with a shift away from confrontation and back to the comfortable territory of lobbying Labour MPs and the trade union leadership.

    Those of you who still live in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s real fail to grasp that the EDL isn’t a racist outfit.
    They are part of a new phenomena maybe call it “culturalist”, that is it isn’t based on white supremacism but a reaction and counter to islamic supremacism.

    • If that’s the case, wouldn’t you be better off basing your operations in say, Saudi Arabia, or somewhere like that that is actually under “islamic supremacism”, since “islamic supremacism” is not, has never been, nor will ever be the status quo in the U.K.?
      Also you should tell your mates in the EDL/WDL that if they want to come across as “anti-racist” “culturalists”, they should avoid giving nazi salutes (as several of em did when they came here), and their spokespersons should avoid referring to themselves as “the B.N.P.” as one of their spokeswomen did when they came here? Oh wait, I forgot, the B.N.P. is “not racist” either…. yup, and my black ass is the grand dragon of the ku klux klan.

  6. weyman bennet has been charged with conspiracy to commit violent disorder. Its a blatant attempt to undermine the UAF. The cops know who he is, so do the CPS. This will backfire on them worst than on UAF.

    I think anarchists should show solidarity with him and the UAF against this state attack.

  7. these “anti fascists” are more fascist than those they oppose!

    violent and intolerant, i have no sympathy for them.

    i do not share most of the views of the right wing, i do sympathise with the anti-immigration stance. most people do, the world over, including most immigrants, but they should be allowed to say what they want and express themselves.

    the opposition to freedom of expression is anti-democratic. i wonder how many of these “anti fascists” would like to see some communist uptopia installed in the uk?

    i might vote bnp or something just to annoy these fascist “communists” and socialists!

    ..and i REALLY don’t like nick griffin after his comments about being “wholeheartedly” behind the zionist revenge rampage in gaza last year, trust me..

    • Oh fuck off.
      “Anti-fascists are the real fascists!!!1!” is the most boring, lazy, unpolitical meme on the internet at the moment.

      One group wants to start a pogrom, another group organises to stop them.

      Are they morally equivalent? It’s not fucking quantum mechanics, mate.

    In the short to medium term, I assume with Dudley and Bradford coming up, there won’t be a “a distinct change in UAF policy” in terms of confrontation. Counter-demonstrations by UAF are organised at both these EDL demos.

    Despite what the SWP say, I heard from two different people on the ground yesturday that there were more EDL people than UAF; apparantly, according to one witness, most EDL supporters did not even get anywhere near Victoria Sq, held and no doubt surrounded by police in the approach to Victoria Square on Knowsley St from the south of the city.

    Yesturday’s demo was actually well planned by UAF; there had been a decision to split into two groups to stop the two main access routes through Victoria Square so that the EDL route was completely cut off in both directions, and UAF occupied the square. In actual fact, the police enforced this situation, separating a smaller group off from most people in the square. This group then moved as one large block to the top of Knowlsey St – the top of the shopping pedestrinised area (though, as usual, because the SWP hierarchical command structure is so inflexible, this smaller group served no purpose after a while – pleas to SWP lieutenants on the ground fell on death-ears as several of us remonstrated that much of that body of people could have been more usefully confrontational at another location in an adjacent street; after an hour, this was no longer possible as police surrounded them).

    People who supoport the UAF must be retarded, they are scum and should be treated as such. They cause more violence on our streets than anyone, time they were banned.

  10. UAF SCUM HATER

    May I solute The Greater Manchester Police Force for bringing down the biggest loser Britain will ever see.

    The fact of the matter is, The UAF and it’s benefit scrounging followers are scum!!

    The BNP is the only way forward for Britain.

      Perhaps you and your chums should form an English Defence League Version 2.0 for the defence of the English language. Strange how EDL/BNP type twats can’t even master their own language. Let’s all hope that sharia law brings with it better spelling and grammar.

      • edl

        the new argument of the far left,
        point out grammar and spelling.
        LOL.
        thats what they do now!
        theyd be better off getting a wash then fooking off to north korea and seeing how great communism really is.
        no getting pissed in the student bar or getting dropped off at the demo in mummys range rover over there.
        eating bark off a tree is more likley,as most communist regimes control by starvation.
        also strange how your all ‘hitler haters’,
        hes a good 100 million short in the ‘death race’ with the communists you all love!
        retards.
        (sowwy for any spewwing mistakes wuvvys)

  11. English Patriot

    The UAF is under the leadership of Socialist Workers Party executive member Weyman Bennett and the Hope not Hate/Searchlight operation is under the leadership of Stalinist-era Communist Party candidate Gerry Gable. UAF are just a bunch of Communist thugs funded by the government.

    Found this somewhere – it’s a bit dated, but still rings true…

    Song to the Men of England (1819)

    Men of England, wherefore plough
    For the lords who lay ye low?
    Wherefore weave with toil and care
    The rich robes your tyrants wear?

    Wherefore feed, and clothe, and save,
    From the cradle to the grave,
    Those ungrateful drones who would
    Drain your sweat — nay, drink your blood?

    Wherefore, Bees of England, forge
    Many a weapon, chain, and scourge
    That these stingless drones may spoil
    The forced produce of your toil?

    Have ye leisure, comfort, calm,
    Shelter, food, love’s gentle balm?
    Or what is it ye buy so dear
    With your pain and with your fear?

    The seed ye sow, another reaps;
    The wealth ye find, another keeps;
    The robes ye weave, another wears;
    The arms ye forge, another bears.

    Sow seed, — but let no tyrant reap;
    Find wealth, — let no impostor heap;
    Weave robes, — let not the idle wear;
    Forge arms, — in your defence to bear.

    Shrink to your cellars, holes, and cells;
    In halls ye deck another dwells.
    Why shake the chains ye wrought? Ye see
    The steel ye tempered glance on ye.

    With plough and spade, and hoe and loom,
    Trace your grave, and build your tomb,
    And weave your winding-sheet, till fair
    England be your sepulchre.

    Percy Bysshe Shelley

    Have to laugh at all the EDL/BNP goons on here caling the UAF violent and fascist. Just shows what a bunch of tossers you really are.
    Mind you, you lot are convinced we’re going to be taken over by some sort of muslim sharia law invasion, daft tin-foil hat wearing state collusionists – keep on being thick racist seig heiling puppets of the rich while we sort out getting a fair deal for ALL working class people of the world.
    You can thank us later

    • To judge from “edl” they’re so fucking thick they think “Kim Jong Il Anarchist” was being serious!!! [check the “EDL anarchist”‘s personal thread… and by the way – Kim Jong Il Anarchist, in my opinion it’s between you and Dora Kaplan’s recreation of Cameron’s school days (“those beastly Romans!”) for joke of the year on here so far… not counting “edl” or “edl @”, as the humour has to be *intentional* to qualify… ]
