‘This one’ is how Rupert Murdoch referred to his precious Rebekah Brooks as he was asked what his priorities were last night. Reporters said ‘Murdoch supported Brooks as she stumbled amidst media scrum’ or ‘patted her on the arse’ as anyone with eyesight would have put it.Two priorities for articles for the new NOTW will be ‘What hold does Rebekah have over Murdoch’ and an examination on those involved in ‘The Chipping Norton set’. Cartoons/graphics on rebekah Brooks as ‘My precious’ also welcome.Any other ideas – localnews4us@yahoo.co.uk

‘Heard the one about Milly Dowler’s parents my precious’
I suppose that if any of these fuckers ever find themselves in the dock for any of these offences they’ll tell their defense lawyers to push for the highest possible sentence.
“I must object, Me Lud. 20 years is far too lenient. The defendant insists that death by garroting should be the minimum sentence.”
Incidentally, does hacking the royal family’s phones count as treason? If it does, does the death penalty apply?
So much for being PR and media savvy- they look like a pair of grinning monkies…compare and contrast with the look on the Dowler family’s faces as they went in to meet with the feckless Clegg, a man who is also alien to the concept of ethical behaviour and the truth. Rotten to the core, crooked piles of dogshit, the lot of ’em.
It seems the fantasy role playing goes beyond Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter anyone?..

That beast is the one that ‘hard man’ Ross Kemp LOL reported to the Old Bill for beating him up…..maybe that’s why Murdoch won’t give her the boot.
“New alternative socialist media must be built by the trade unions and working people. But this must be accompanied by raising now the need, in the first instance, for the democratic nationalisation of the printing presses, television and radio under democratic popular management and control – beginning with the state confiscation of the resources of News Corporation, which has demonstrated that it is a danger to democracy itself.”
From the Socialist, the SP’s paper. I’m an SP member, well up for your idea of relaunching NotW Ian!
Danni quoted:
“New alternative socialist media must be built by the trade unions and working people. But this must be accompanied by raising now the need, in the first instance, for the democratic nationalisation of the printing presses, television and radio under democratic popular management and control – beginning with the state confiscation of the resources of News Corporation, which has demonstrated that it is a danger to democracy itself.”
WtF!
So the path to working people building an alternative socialist media is the transferral of the complete means of production in the media sector to the capitalist state?
No. We will be taking it into common ownership, not state ownership, so that workers have control over it.
Do you really not see the difference between common ownership and state ownership? Or are you pushing this pushing this state ownership of media thing so that it is easier to be hijacked by some Trot organisation or other?
State ownership in the SP’s view is state ownership under workers control, ie. common ownership.
“DEMOCRATIC nationalisation” “Television and radio UNDER DEMOCRATIC POPULAR MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL” it clearly says – is that not common ownership?
Common ownership and democratic control have nothing to do with state ownership and state control.
Common ownership entails the means of production being held in common by society as a whole. Democratic control means the members of society directly organising production (and other aspects of society) for the benefit of society as whole and making decisions democratically.
If we were in a position to take the means of production into common ownership under democratic control we would have no requirement for a state.
The state is an instrument used by a ruling elite to legitimise, protect and enforce its position in a class and property society. That is its purpose and function.
Common ownership and democratic control entail a classless, propertyless, stateless society. I call that socialism, others call it anarchism. But, it’s the complete opposite of what you’re talking about.
The role of a democratic “workers state” in a transitional period between capitalism and “pure communism” – essentially anarchy, a classless, stateless society – is necessary to defend the gains of the revolution.
The state I am talking about bears little to no resemblance to the capitalist state.
So we workers take control of the means of production, then, instead of directly and democratically using them to provide for society’s needs we hand it all lock, stock and barrel over to a so-called workers’ state.
Why the hell should we do that?
How is total state ownership and control part of a transition to stateless, classless, propertyless, non-hierarchical society?
I think I know what it is a transition to. And I think you know too, otherwise you wouldn’t be posting here.
Somehow I doubt that the people of North Korea think their TV and media are under ‘common ownership’…
Yes, because Trotskyist groups *really* support North Korea. Sort it out.
“Somehow I doubt that the people of North Korea think their TV and media are under ‘common ownership’…”
Precisely.
