Whatever the government every decade brings more police state legislation – criminal justice acts, public order bills, laws against assembly and public action. The last vestiges of the democratic facade are removed as society rapidly polarises into an uber-rich class of rentier parasistes and a resentful population of debt slaves. But the government seems to have forgetten the first principle of military organisation: Never issue an order unless you’re sure it will be obeyed. Never ‘ban’ a demonstration unless you’re sure you can stop it.
Time to start organising against the corporate rip off that is the Olympics. The government have just offered an open goal to the occupy movement.
The Olympics is an international spectacle bar none. Don’t under estimate its political potential. From Jesse Owens to Mexico , Munich and Moscow the olympics has had enormous impact on international relations and has caused sometimes permanent national/racial repercussions.
With the advent of internationally profiled occupation movements, the arab spring, the internationlly sanctioned killings of tyrants and revolutionaries, and the confession that capitalism is in real crisis ( not one made up by the left), this Olympics has real potential for a grand style, billion audience fuck up.
